Ruby Nel

Appearance: The plum is green with a dark red blush when picked and develops a full red colour when ripe. The flesh is orange-yellow and the stone is a cling stone.

Harvested: late December

Owner of variety: The Ruby Nel (Reubennel) was bred by Infruitec in South Africa from a cross between a Gaviota and [Methley x Wickson]. It was released in 1978.

Taste and texture: The taste is very sweet and the texture firm.
