FRESH PRODUCE TERMINALS (FPT) With fruit terminals in the Southern African ports of Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban and Maputo, we offer fruit exporters a customised service. Reports of our expertise could fill a book. Suffice it to say that during the deciduous, citrus and exotic fruit seasons, more than one million pallets of fruit are cooled and shipped from these terminals to markets around the world.
Notching up about 50% of the overall fruit export market share over recent years, FPT is the undisputed leader in the fruit terminal logistics industry. Bent on continuous improvement, we also plan to entrench ourselves in the container supply chain by providing increased container handling and loading services at our facilities.
Services To ensure maintenance of product protocols for prolonged shelf life, about 50 000 pallets of fruit can be stored in the four FPT terminals. Modern stock control systems allow customers information access to optimise shipping and selling opportunities, while sophisticated yard control systems contribute to efficient handling practises.
Included in our terminal services are: - Direct shipments in handling pallets delivered to the quayside
- Ex-store shipments
- Containerisation
- Sterilised shipments
- Storage of fruit not shipped from FPT terminal
- Transport coordination of rejected fruit
- Stevedoring services
- Coordination of transport from various inland storage facilities to the port
- General cargo services in Durban and Maputo
- Supply chain visibility to customers
Having landed agreements with Universal Reefers, as well as the Vessel Sharing Agreement partners Seatrade and NYK LauCool to provide terminal services, we'll continue to blaze a trail in the fruit terminal logistics industry.
