Fruitful Race ( Friday 03 August 2007 )

Responding to a Tesco request, Capespan was delighted to provide fruit for the first 2007 Race for Life event at London's Battersea Park in May.

Marathon world record holder Paula Radcliffe officially started the race, but was unable to participate because of injury. She was joined by model Nell McAndrew at the Tesco-sponsored charity event to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

Around 5 000 women ran, jogged and walked the 5 km Battersea Park course, many in memory of friends and loved ones. At the end of the race, all competitors were invited to eat fresh fruit, including Cape apples and blushed pears and Outspan easy peelers. Cape Arnie Apple was joined by Outspan Olivia Orange and together they congratulated the runners on completion of the race and invited them to collect fruit.
