New Capespan board members ( Tuesday 23 June 2009 )
Following the Capespan Group’s shareholding restructuring in January this year, Dr Paul Clüver has again been elected chairman for a further term. The two new board members are Crispin Sonn and Antonie Jacobs.
Dr Clüver has been chairman of the Capespan Group since 1999. He holds various degrees, among which a Masters in Medicine and an Honorary Doctorate in Agriculture. He also worked as a senior consultant in neurosurgery at UCT and the University of Stellenbosch, where he's currently Council chairman. Apart from his various achievements, such as Farmer of the Year in 1995 and Cape Times/KPMG Business Personality of the Year in 2005, he focuses on his farming activities in the Grabouw area, where he farms with wine grapes, apples and pears. Dr Clüver serves on various other boards, including Fyffes plc, Wines of South Africa (WOSA) and APL Cartons.
Crispin Sonn, executive director at Old Mutual SA, is a graduate from UCT with a BA in Social Sciences and Humanities. He obtained an Honours degree in Business and Administration at Stellenbosch University and also completed the International Training Programme at Harvard University. Sonn is the recipient of numerous accolades and awards, especially in the entrepreneurial field and serves on several boards. He's non-executive chairman of Feedback Food Redistribution, as well as non-executive director for both the LEAP Schools programme and Old Mutual Foundation.
Antonie Jacobs is CEO of Zeder Investments Ltd, part of the PSG Group. A qualified chartered accountant, he also holds an MComm (Tax) from the University of Stellenbosch and a LLB from Unisa. Initially he was a senior lecturer in Tax and Accountancy at the University of Stellenbosch, followed by the positions financial director of Winecorp Limited and managing director of KLK Landbou Beperk.
